"I dunno, '0'?"

[music | New York Dolls - Looking For a Kiss]

An email I just sent to our internal team. I've finally grown tired of getting several calls a week looking for baseball player guy, or Cheri. Many times I'll strike up a convo with whoever is on the other end. They end up asking "do you play baseball? Do you know X?" What, seriously, are the odds that I would *KNOW* whoever used to have my phone number?

RoManiac

[music | Killing Joke - Mass (Campaign Collection Mix)]

I have to fly to Romania, or possibly Russia, but probably Romania. I need to find the guy who wrecked my holiday weekend.

Silly Phishers/Spammers. The bummer is he probably has a nicer car than mine. Your Benz might be faster than my Toyota, but your fast-flux DNS will never be faster than my ability to pick out one "wrong looking" TCP connection out of a pool of 50,000 legitimate ones.

Who wants to come, boots required.

Chris Isaak Touched Mah Woman

[music | Social Distortion - Like an Outlaw (for You)]

Back to the Bank of America Pavilion for Chris Isaak this time. Another one that I would have loved to see and didn't. It felt nice to be on the relatively young end of a crowd, too.

Throwing. Muses.

[music | Pigface - Mind Your Own Business (Remix by Tweaker)]

Seeing Throwing Muses brought me straight back to the days of all the great bands I missed because I was too young to get from NH into Boston to see things. I'm so glad I can get to all the shows now, in a big way because everyone I "missed" when I was 16 or 17 is still rocking hard, albeit sometimes very differently. (see also, Pixies, Aimee Mann, etc.) Plus a new "Gem" in Bullseye, with a great Boston Lineage.

I have slacked on posting about Les Claypool and The Coup.

Celtic Woman

[music | Yo-Yo Ma / Edgar Meyer Mark O'Connor - Misty Moonlight Waltz]

Celtic Woman? Really, you sure? I'll admit that this one was all for Natalie initially, but I'm really glad I went, it was fun, they are super talented, and the entire ensemble was really entertaining. And when it gets down to it, I just really love watching talented people do whatever it is they do. They'll start making it into my mix now I'm sure.

Holy memory lane batman

[music | Ella Fitzgerald - They Can't Take That Away From Me]

Today another admin and I were (briefly) talking about how we're surprised either of us can walk because of skateboarding. He's some young punkass who would probably panic if someone threw him a vert skate and said "ride this, down that"...That's what I'm guessing anyway. So sit back and watch an old-timer pick shit out of his ear and tell you younguns how it used to be.

Dresden Dolls

[music | Regina Spektor - Bon Idee ]

This show was kind of iffy from the get go, since Dresden Dolls were one of two opening bands for Panic! at the Disco. The other was the Hush Sound, which was actually entertaining and the crowd seemed really into it, especially for the opener-to-the-opener. Combined with the fact that it was July 4th and at the most crowded place in the state that day (Hampton Beach).

Boston Symphony Pops ft. Aimee Mann

[music | The Smiths - Shakespeare's Sister]

This was really cool. The first half of the performance was the Pops doing pieces from "unconventional" composers, Bjork, Elvis Costello, and a John Williams piece.

After the intermission they had Aimee Mann with her band, backed by the Pops, which was really cool to hear. Keith Lockhart seemed really into it and it was even more impressive if you think about how they had to coordinate the arrangement with an existing tour schedule. Cool stuff.
